From Budapest, Hungary comes the NaBi. A tracking beacon that allows monitoring of assets of any kind without the need for maintenance over a long period of time. The tracker is developed by General Mechatronics, a young company specialised in IoT product development with close ties to the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Initially, its field of activity was focusing on CNC machines and robotic control, which then gradually shifted towards IoT devices and the development of serial-produced electronic devices.
Background
With General Track NaBi, customers can transform their logistics into a controlled, highly efficient operation. The NaBi allows real-time information on location, temperature and motion. Its sensors enable different applications such as geolocation for automated real-time equipment tracking and security. The temperature sensor allows cold chain transportation monitoring while the built-in motion sensor detects any movements and vibration that can be used as an hour meter as well as maintenance prediction.
Challenge
NaBi is designed for longevity and needs to operate independently from external power sources. That is why it uses the low-power communication technology based on NB-IoT. For most applications NaBi’s lithium battery lasts for up to 5 years before it needs to be replaced. The device itself is designed to last much longer, at least for 10 years and even more. Only with these characteristics it allows the inexpensive and maintenance-free observation of inventory and logistics.
